Juror Information

The right of every citizen to a trial by jury is one of the most important American liberties. No such trial is possible without jurors. Jury service is a privilege and a duty to one’s fellow citizens.

Colorado law makes jury service as convenient as possible for the majority of our citizens. The Woodland Park Municipal Court uses a One-Day / One-Trial jury system - jurors serve for only a single day, or the duration of a single trial. On average, jurors and interpreters can expect to be at the court one full day.

Jury Selection

Citizens are selected for jury service randomly. Some individuals seem to receive juror summonses on a regular basis. Different courts are independent of each other and citizens may be called to serve as jurors in each. Residents of the City of Woodland Park are subject to be called for jury service in the U.S. District Court, the Teller County Court, the Colorado Fourth Judicial District Court as well as the Municipal Court. Citizens are not subject to service in each court more than once each year.

Requirements

To serve as a juror in this court, one must live within the city limits of Woodland Park, be a citizen of the United States of America, be at least 18 years of age and be able to understand the English language.

Citizens summoned to Municipal Court as jurors receive a jury summons via regular mail. The jury summons contains a juror number and general information about jury service. Specific appearance instructions are recorded the night before jury service and are available by calling 719-687-5207 after 4 pm. Be sure to call!

Parking

There is free parking in front of and behind the City Hall complex. The entrance to the Court is through a large door located in the middle of building on the south side (South Avenue) designated by Council Chambers.
