Candidate for City Council of Woodland Park, Colorado
2024 Municipal Election
Eric Lockman grew up in rural Wisconsin, learning a strong work ethic on his grandparents’ dairy farm. This strong work ethic continues to define him. Descended from a Wisconsin settler from upstate New York, Eric values the significance of community roots and is driven by a genuine desire to contribute and serve the people around him. His values reflect the conservative values of Woodland Park and Teller County.
From an early age, Eric demonstrated a commitment to service, dedicating his college Spring Breaks to volunteer work. He engaged in diverse projects, from soup kitchens in Denver to a Habitat Blitz Build Home in Leland, Mississippi and reconstruction projects in Florida after Hurricane Georges. While working with teens, Eric gained valuable experience leading mission trips to Matamoros, MX, and Puerto Peñasco, MX. Drawing on his construction skills during these missions, he actively contributed to various building projects. Currently, Eric serves as the Director of Operations at his local church.
Eric has over 20 years of experience as an electrical engineer and entrepreneur and has developed an expertise in a variety of fields, such as factory automation, robotics, monitoring, wireless technology, embedded hardware, embedded firmware, and the latest in IoT. His journey includes developing interpersonal skills through tech support, managing a field service crew, and contracting technical services.
Eric has been married to his wife, a Colorado-native, for over 18 years and is a proud father of four. He has embraced remote work for more than a decade, a unique arrangement that afforded his family the unforgettable opportunity to travel to all 48 contiguous states, appreciating the beauty and history of our country. Eric finds joy in discovering and nurturing opportunities for his children to grow and to develop an entrepreneurial spirit themselves.
Eric is known for his calm and rational demeanor, basing his decisions on facts rather than emotion. He has a genuine interest in learning and understanding others' perspectives, which is evident in his approach of always asking questions first, rather than building a case for his own position. Eric aspires to set policy without politics, believing in the power of honest dialogue to strengthen our community and ascend together. He is committed to preserving the small mountain town feel of Woodland Park that we all came to enjoy, while promoting smart development.
