Candidate for City Council of Woodland Park, Colorado
2024 Municipal Election
My wife, Lynn, and I have lived in Woodland Park for seven years and, during this time, have co-founded two small businesses: Colorado GearLab (2018) and Zebz OutFooter (2022). These thriving businesses have provided me with many opportunities to engage with local residents, tourists, and city officials alike.
I currently serve as a Planning Commissioner for the city and hold a board position with Community Partnership, a Woodland Park-based non-profit. Additionally, I participated on the 2022 City Charter Review committee.
As both a resident and commercial property owner, I am invested in Woodland Park and will commit to representing the residents of Woodland Park and the small businesses within our community for the entire term.
Our city is on a growth trajectory with new commercial projects and multi-family housing opportunities underway, and more planned. We need to be intentional with this growth and committed to our comprehensive plan, our zoning, and our downtown main street.
As it pertains to downtown, I support reinstating the Main Street non-profit organization in a bold, robust way. Specifically, I want businesses to have a say in the city's Shop Small programs, downtown events, its cleanliness, and flower and lighting displays.
If elected, I pledge to bring accountability to the greater than $3M collected from our city's sales taxes annually and passed through to the RE-2 school board.
Finally, we need to find ways to reduce the cost of living in our beautiful city, and I commit to exploring all options.
