CDOT conducting daytime paving operations on US 24 beginning 
June 27 in Woodland Park

Business Access will be impacted

Teller County — Colorado Department of Transportation maintenance crews will be conducting paving and patching operations on US 24 in Woodland Park on June 27 through June 30. Crews will be working in the eastbound lanes from Mile Point 284.45 to 286.9 and westbound lanes between Mile Point 285.5 to 285.85 within the town of Woodland Park during daytime hours. Business access will be impacted for short durations. Motorists should anticipate delays in the area.

Traffic Impacts

June 27

• Full closure of eastbound lanes at MP 284.45 beginning at 6:30 a.m., west of the intersection of US 24 and CO 67. Eastbound traffic will be detoured onto city streets. Business access from US 24 will be closed temporarily, but will reopen as soon as the new surface is safe to drive on. Side street access will remain open.

June 28

• Single lane closure of the eastbound lanes from MP 286.6 to 286.9 and 287.6 to 287.8, beginning at 6:30 a.m.

June 29

• Single lane closures of eastbound from 288.1 to 288.5, beginning at 6:30 a.m. Traffic will not be able to access US 24 from Woodland Ave.

June 30

• Single lane closure of the westbound lanes from MP 285.85 to 285.55, east of South Balwin Street, beginning at 6:30 a.m. South Baldwin Street and East Chester Avenue access to US 24 will be closed temporarily but will reopen as soon as the new surface is safe to drive on.

Starting in the summer of 2023, CDOT plans to have a construction project that will resurface and add safety enhancements on US 24 from Chipita Park to Woodland Park.

The following tips are to help you stay safe while traveling through maintenance and construction work zones.

• Do not speed in work zones. Obey the posted speed limits.

• Stay Alert! Expect the unexpected.

• Watch for workers. Drive with caution.

• Don't change lanes unnecessarily.

• Avoid using mobile devices such as phones while driving in work zones.

• Turn on headlights so that workers and other drivers can see you.

• Be especially alert at night while driving in work zones.

• Expect delays, especially during peak travel times.

• Allow ample space between you and the car in front of you.

• Anticipate lane shifts and merge when directed to do so.

• Be patient!
