What do I do if I find a dead animal?
  • If you find a dead animal on your property, it is your responsibility to dispose of it. 
  • If you find a dead deer on your property, the Colorado Wolf and Wildlife Center in Divide may come to pick it up for you. You can reach them during their business hours at 719 687 9742.
  • If you find a newborn deer, leave it be. The mother will typically come back for them.
  • If you find a dead animal on city property (city trails, parks, or streets) please contact Public Works at 719 687 5293.
  • If you find a dead animal on State Highway 67 or 24, please contact CDOT.
  • If you find an injured animal on private or public property, call the Police Department at 719 687 9262.
