Commander Ryan Holzwarth has been serving and protecting Teller County since 2006. Ryan worked as a Patrol Officer, Corporal and Patrol Sergeant for the Cripple Creek Police Department before working for the Woodland Park Police Department in 2013. Since then Ryan has held the ranks of Patrol Officer, Master Patrol Officer and Patrol Sergeant before being promoted to Commander in 2019.
As a graduate of Coronado High School in Colorado Springs, Ryan grew up in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Inspired by his family who have served as First Responders, Ryan obtained an Associate’s Degree in Criminal Justice from Pikes Peak Community College. He is currently a student at American Military University (AMU) working to complete his Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice Administration. Commander Holzwarth plans to obtain his Master’s Degree upon completion of his studies at AMU.
Ryan currently serves on the board for the Central Mountain Training Region comprised of over several front range counties. The board and its members provide law enforcement training and legal training to numerous law enforcement agencies.
Ryan’s leadership, experience, and deep understanding of the community will serve the Department and the community well as a Commander.
